In a June 23, 2026, KCRCC meeting, Sid Smith voted

to give unilateral authority to the chair, Ron Jacobson, to appoint subcommittee chairmen in a contentious 41 - 37 vote. The motion was to "sustain the ruling of the chair", that the chair had the authority to appoint subhcommittee chairmen without the approval of the body. In debate, another member of the KCRCC, Luke Sommer, stated that 2024 precendence by the previous chair asked the consent of the body for these appointments in a specific "and without objection" ask. Sid's support has allowed the chair to appoint future unknown chairmen without the consent of the majority, centralizing power to the chair.
